Spiti Valley Tours What to See
- KYE MONASTERY – It is situated 12 kms. north of Kaza. It is the oldest and biggest monastery of the valley and located at (4116 m) above Kye village.
- DHANKAR MONASTERY – It is situated about 25 kms. east of Kaza. Dhankar is a big village and erstwhile capital of Spiti Kingdom.
- TABO MONASTERY – It is another big gompa for serving the population of eastern side. It belongs to the tenth century and is located 50 kms. from kaza.
- KUNZUM PASS(4590 m) – As Rohtang pass is a gateway to Lahaul so Kunzum pass is the gateway to Spiti from Kulu & Lahaul. While going to this pass, the panoramic view of Bara-Sigri glacier (second longest glacier in the world) is enthrilling and inspiring.
- LOSAR(4080 m) – It is situated near the confluence of Losar and Peeno streams. This village is worth a visit being the first big village and because of its Location.
- KIBBER(4205 m) – It is locally known as Khyipur, one of the highest villages in the world at an altitude of 4205 m above sea level in a narrow valley surrounded by mountains from all sides.
How to reach Spiti Valley
There are two routes to enter Spiti.
- From Manali via Rohtang Pass to Kaza. Manali is connected by Air, Rail and Road. From Manali, there is a regular bus from July to October.
- From Shimla via Kinnaur. Shimla is connected by Air, Rail & Road. From Shimla by buses to Kaza from May to October.
The best time to travel in these areas is between April and October. While planning your trip, it is suggested that you check on general road conditions and confirm if the high passes are open to traffic.

Day 1: Chandigarh – Shimla / Narkanda
Day 2: Shimla / Narkanda – Sangla / Chitkul (Kinnaur Valley)
Day 3: Sangla – Chitkul – Sangla – Kalpa
Day 4: Kalpa – Nako – Nako Lake – Geyu Mummy – Tabo
Day 5: Tabo – Dhankar – Dhankar Lake – Pin Valley (Mud Village)
Day 6: Pin Valley – Kaza – Ki – Kibber – Gette – Tashigang – Kaza
Have lunch at Kaza and check in to Hotel. Visit Ki – Kibber – Gette – Tashigang in the second half of the day. Ki is a famous monastery and others are places to explore as a lovely drive. Tashigang is where the road ends but again beautiful drive.Overnight at Kaza
Day 7: Kaza – Hikkim – Komik – Langza – Kaza / Losar
Day 8: Kaza / Losar – Kunzum Pass – Chandratal / Battal
Camps are about 2.5 KMs from the lake, either stay there or back to Battal where there is a PWD rest house now though without electricity. Overnight at Battal or Chandratal Camps
Day 9: Battal / Chandratal – Kunzum Pass – Rohtang Pass – Manali
Day 10: Manali – Chandigarh
